Welcome to Early Years

Dear Al Jazeera Families,

My name is Hajra and I am pleased to take on the role as Headteacher of Early Years at Al Jazeera Academy. Since graduating from Chicago, I have worked in schools in the US and the UAE. Before moving to Qatar very recently, I worked in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 2012 to 2023 and have been a senior leader since 2015. I am eager to begin this new chapter of life here in Qatar and cannot wait to experience everything that this beautiful country has to offer.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is a warm and nurturing environment, where each child is valued and made to feel safe and secure in their surroundings. Together with my team, I am looking forward to developing each child to their full potential by offering an enriching, play based approach to learning and development, with a keen focus on taking individual interests, needs and learning styles into account.

My vision for the Early Years phase here at AJA is to create positive, meaningful learning communities by making certain that our teaching and learning practices remain at the forefront of research based early years education. I am particularly interested in identifying and removing barriers to learning and I look forward to ensuring that AJA’s youngest students receive the high-quality education that they deserve.
